We are excited to announce that the Rainbow Gully Community Garden is welcoming our After School Permaculture Kids Program, starting in Term 1! We're bringing our engaging permaculture curriculum to Hervey Bay, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to participate.
Our Permaculture Kids Program embraces the three core ethics of permaculture: people care, earth care, and fair share. Each week of our term program invites children to explore permaculture principles through hands-on activities and interest-based creative play.

Our program at Rainbow Gully will involve all 12 permaculture principles over a 4-week program in Term 1 and a 6-week program in Term 2. We believe in inclusivity, which is why we offer discounted prices for low-income families.
The heart of our program is to engage children in interest-based learning through play. This includes exploring the eighth natural intelligence—Naturalist—where kids will classify various natural forms such as animal and plant species, as well as different types of rocks and mountains. Essential cognitive skills such as pattern recognition, taxonomy, and empathy for living beings will be cultivated, connecting children with our food systems and nurturing a passion for nature.
