The Harvest to Table program is an engaging eight-week after-school initiative designed for children aged five to eleven and youth aged twelve to seventeen. This program focuses on teaching participants the fundamentals of gardening, from planting seeds to nurturing plants, all while fostering a love for nature and healthy eating. They will cultivate their garden beds, observing the growth process and developing an appreciation for where their food comes from. Each week, students will engage in hands-on gardening activities, learning about soil health, plant care, and sustainable practices. In addition to gardening, the program includes interactive cooking sessions that emphasize the importance of nutrition and meal preparation. Participants will harvest fresh produce from the gardens and learn to cook simple, healthy meals that they can share with family and friends. This culinary experience will not only enhance their cooking skills but also reinforce the value of eating fresh, locally grown food. Throughout the program, participants will work collaboratively, building teamwork and communication skills while creating lasting friendships. By the end of the eight weeks, children and youth will have developed a strong foundation in gardening and cooking, empowering them to make healthier food choices and fostering a lifelong appreciation for gardening and nutrition.
